My understanding is that it's not the client interaction or even pulling simple boilerplate together. It's trying to find out how the court would handle a certain situation and having the Indian lawyer research past cases and write up a memo. It's up to the lawyer in the states to interpret the memo, review the work and apply the research to the case in the office. And you get the memo for lots cheaper than having an associate do it. The HP story rings true too - there's two HP engineers on my block. One deals with counterparts in India and Japan and the 12 hour time difference is a hassle. But a request gets emailed out and the next morning, there's some code in the inbox waiting to be reviewed. If it passes muster, it may go into the firmware of the printer under development. GM could have a design group sending off problems to China or India - like, how do we make the Sierra 1500's drive train fit into a compact SUV and get a magic seat to fit. Then, if gas remained cheap, parts could be manufactured offshore for final assembly somewhere. Freight and currency issues will probably limit that. But all the paper stuff like dealer warranty claims could be processed offshore. Not to mention lots of engineering. There must be CAD stuff going on now involving engineers on different continents.
Finding parts for my 2004 Verona
by veronadriver1 on Wed Dec 03 10:18:15 PST 2008
Hello, I am new to this forum and I would like to ask a view questions about my 2004 Verona. I have not had any problems with it until about 90,000 miles. Nothing with the engine but my driver side window is off track or something, its got a lot of play in it meaning i can move it side to side and up and down. I have to pull it down to come down, and i have to pull it up to come up. I am a DIY kinda guy so id like to do it myself. It's starting to happen to my passenger window as well. If anybody knows what is wrong with it please let me know! I also broke my diver side door molding, the plastic peice on the side of the door, and cant find it ANYWHERE! The dealership here went out of business (looks liike suzuki isn't doing to good some places). Please please please if anybody has any information or resources let me know. thanks a lot!

Mike's glitch and things that make you go hmmm

The profile was too long and messed up the login somehow. Guess I need to walk down to my mailbox and get my Drive. My ski buddy is pressing pretty hard to buy my Outback - if my wife would quit her job and ski for the winter, we could manage with one car again, the funds would pay for the time off, and then I could look for a used Miata (Juice being a bad influence) when she went back to work. Re: IBM and the Detroit 3 [mikefm58]

Back in the day, IBM was just coming out of a big anti-trust action against them, and that hampered some of their competitiveness. They managed to ride it out and turn things around just fine. But just getting from investigation to trial took 13 years. They were still skittish when the PCs hit the market. Maybe there's some analogy there - anti-trust and CAFE?
